MAN CITY TEAM NEWS: LATE CALL ON HAALAND

There is a chance that Erling Haaland will miss out due to the death of a family friend, but a final call on his involvement will not be made until matchday. Nathan Ake, meanwhile, is out for at least a month after picking up a thigh injury in Netherlands action recently.

After taking to the pitch for Spain in the UEFA Nations League last weekend, Rodri could make his first club start of the season, while Phil Foden is over his recent bout of illness and should be involved in some capacity.

PREDICTED XI (3-2-4-1): Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Lewis, Rodri; Doku, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland

UNAVAILABLE: Ake (Injured), Bobb (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Haaland (Personal reasons)

BRENTFORD TEAM NEWS: SIX IN THE TREATMENT ROOM

The injuries are mounting for the Bees after Mathias Jensen picked up a calf injury over the international break, while summer signing Gustavo Nunes will miss out with a minor stress fracture.

They join Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva and Igor Thiago on the sidelines, but Kristoffer Ajer - who had to be withdrawn early in Brentford's last league fixture - has trained and is available.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Flekken; Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Roerslev, Norgaard, Damsgaard, Janelt, Lewis-Potter; Mbeumo, Wissa

UNAVAILABLE: Hickey (Injured), Henry (Injured), Jensen (Injured), Dasilva (Injured), Gustavo Nunes (Injured), Igor Thiago (Injured)

MAN CITY VS BRENTFORD PREDICTION

Despite the ominous start that reigning champions Man City have made to the campaign, this is rarely a fixture that they run away with. Indeed, only two seasons ago Thomas Frank's Brentford did the double over Pep Guardiola's men.

Frank's tactical astuteness is such that he is likely to limit the damage that City inflict here, and with that in mind, consider backing under 3.5 goals, which has been the case in eight of Man City and Brentford's last nine meetings. If free-scoring Erling Haaland does indeed miss out, then that would significantly increase the chances of this bet landing, so try and wait for team news if possible.

MAN CITY VS BRENTFORD TIP: UNDER 3.5 GOALS
