THE LOWDOWN
MAN CITY
- League leaders Man City currently hold a nine-point cushion over nearest rivals Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, but saw their 12-match winning streak in the league come to an end last month after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton.
- After coming break from the most recent international break injured, Gabriel Jesus is out but aside from that and Cole Palmer’s absence Pep Guardiola has a full-strength squad to choose from.
BRENTFORD
- Brentford’s miserable away form continued at the weekend as they were beaten 4-1 by Everton at Goodison Park in the FA Cup, their fourth straight defeat on the road to a team in the same league as them.
- One positive the Bees could take from the match was the return of first-choice goalkeeper David Raya and he’s in for a busy evening here, whilst Thomas Frank is likely to bring defender Ethan Pinnock straight into the starting line-up following his return from international duty, although this fixture comes too soon for new signing Christian Eriksen.

THE PREDICTION
Brentford’s defence has proven their downfall in recent weeks with the Bees defence unable to stop shipping goals, conceding 16 goals across their last five in all competitions. This does not bode well for them against a free-scoring Man City who boast the second strongest attack in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side are expected to dominate from the start here at the Etihad Stadium, creating numerous goalscoring opportunities over the course of 90 minutes. The all-round quality of this Man City team, not to mention the strength-in-depth at their disposal, should see them inflict further misery upon Brentford and the smart play is to back the hosts to win by at least three clear goals.
Tip: MAN CITY TO WIN WITH -2 HANDICAP
