THE LOWDOWN

LUTON

With just nine points to play for, Luton Town know they simply must win this one at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters gave themselves a real fighting chance a few months ago and they do remain in touching distance of survival but have suffered greatly from an injury ravaged squad in these final few weeks.

They come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss at Molineux against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. That defeat to Wolves came with Hwang Hee-chan and Toti scoring for the hosts before Carlton Morris pulled a goal back late on. It was a loss that means Luton have now suffered three defeats in a row.

EVERTON

It was only a few weeks ago that Everton were staring down the barrel of yet another bit of final day drama at the very least after nearly four matches without a victory in the Premier League. However, thanks to their performances and results at Goodison Park, they have propelled themselves clear of the bottom three and the relegation places.

Sean Dyche’s Merseysiders come into this one on the back of four victories in their last five matches in the top-flight. They most recently edged to a 1-0 defeat of Brentford last weekend with a 60th minute winning goal from Senegal international midfielder Idrissa Gueye. That followed on from home wins against Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

THE TEAM NEWS

LUTON

Rob Edwards, who has been hit with lots of injury concerns, has confirmed that nothing has changed so he will remain without several first-team players for this week's visit of Everton.

Elijah Adebayo returned to the squad last weekend but the Hatters remain without the likes of Tom Lockyer, Issa Kabore, Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Brown and Chiedozie Ogbene.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Kaminski; Burke, Mengi, Osho; Hashioka, Lokonga, Barkley, Doughty; Clark, Chong; Morris

UNAVAILABLE: Lockyer (Illness), Andersen (Injured), Bell (Injured), Potts (Injured), Nakamba (Injured), Ogbene (Injured), Brown (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

EVERTON

Sean Dyche has confirmed that Ukrainian international defender Vitaly Mykolenko will be out for the rest of this season after he suffered ligament damage to his ankle in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

He is also without former Rangers defender Nathan Patterson for the rest of this season. Beto, though, will be able to return from his concussion, whilst both Seamus Coleman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are expected to be available.

PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Young; McNeil, Garner, Doucoure, Gueye, Harrison; Calvert-Lewin

UNAVAILABLE: Mykolenko (Injured), Patterson (Injured), Alli (Injured), Dobbin (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

There was an expectation at one stage that this game may indeed have ended up being ‘winner stays up’ but the visitors can now enter into ‘on the beach’ mode if they so choose after four vital victories. Luton are in a desperate situation now but have punched above their weight with the management of Rob Edwards. Off-field issues remain for Everton and they are not out of the woods in that regards. It wouldn’t be a major shock to see Luton turn over the visitors with so little to play for from an Evertonian perspective.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – LUTON TO WIN OR DRAW
