THE LOWDOWN

LIVERPOOL

  • The 1-7 win at Rangers in the Champions League followed by the morale-boosting victory over reigning Premier League champions Man City over the weekend has dramatically improved the mood around Anfield heading into this contest.
  • Diogo Jota is the latest player to be stricken by injury with the Portuguese international predicted to miss the World Cup, while centre-backs Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate remain out.

WEST HAM

  • West Ham’s four-game winning run in all competitions came to an end with a 1-1 draw against Southampton on Sunday and they now face a Liverpool side who appear to be on the up.
  • The Hammers have one or two injury concerns in defence while Michail Antonio will be hoping for a spot up front after being benched in the last three Premier League fixtures.

THE PREDICTION

Although injuries continue to plague Liverpool this season, Jurgen Klopp’s side look like they may have turned a corner after a difficult start, with their deserved victory over Man City on Sunday bound to have restored some belief in the squad. Mo Salah has notably improved his performance levels in recent matches, and given that the Egyptian appears to have rediscovered his scoring touch, he is well worth backing in the anytime goalscorer market. As well as recent form, Salah has also scored five goals in his last six appearances against West Ham, so there is precedence for him finding the net.

TIP: MOHAMED SALAH TO SCORE ANYTIME
