THE LOWDOWN

After demolishing title contenders Arsenal midweek, Manchester City will continue their pursuit of a fifth Premier League trophy in six seasons against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. With two games in hand, Pep Guardiola's squad are only two points behind the Gunners. Meanwhile, Marco Silva's Fulham sits comfortably in mid-table in the Premier League standings, despite a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on Tuesday which mathematically secured their top-flight status for another season.

Despite having experienced three promotions and two relegations over the past five years, Fulham has adapted to the demands of the Premier League this time around. After returning from the World Cup break, they won six out of nine games, climbing as high as sixth in the table and challenging for European football. However, their performance has dipped in recent weeks, with five defeats in their previous seven matches. Nonetheless, Silva's team aim to finish the campaign on a high note and solidify a top-half finish.

Fulham's dip in form corresponds with the suspension of their key striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored 11 goals in 21 league appearances before his eight-game ban for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh.

Manchester City's clash with Arsenal was predicted to be a title decider, but Guardiola's men annihilated their rivals in front of their home fans with a dominant 4-1 victory. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice in the game, with John Stones also getting on the scoresheet. In addition, Erling Haaland's stoppage-time goal broke the record for most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season, taking his tally to 33 goals.

THE PREDICTION

The Premier League trophy is now in sight for Man City after their convincing victory over title rivals Arsenal, and given that the title is in their own hands, it is difficult to imagine Pep Guardiola’s experienced squad letting this opportunity slip through their grasp. This fixture has been touted as one in which City could potentially stumble, but given the manner of their recent performances, they look like obvious favourites here. There is plenty of know-how in Pep Guardiola’s team, and they can avoid any nerves here by wrapping this one up early.

TIP: DOUBLE RESULT – MAN CITY / MAN CITY
