THE LOWDOWN
EVERTON
- Ravaged by a combination of injuries and Covid-19 cases, Everton’s Boxing Day fixture away at Burnley was forced to be postponed with the Toffees having now not played since their draw away at Chelsea earlier in the month.
- Key players such as defender Yerry Mina, midfielder Andros Townsend and forward Richarlison are expected to miss this match, although striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin could make his first Premier League appearance for the Toffees since back in August.
NEWCASTLE
- Relegation battling Newcastle have little time to rest following their Monday night clash with Man Utd, as Eddie Howe’s side are straight back in Premier League action only three days later
- Midfielder Isaac Hayden was suspended for the visit of Man Utd and is likely to come back into the side for their trip to Goodison Park, whilst striker Callum Wilson and winger Allan Saint-Maximin could both be out after the two came off injured against the Red Devils.

THE PREDICTION
The big question here is how Everton will cope with a number of key players missing from their side and can their less experienced players do them proud once again as they did away at Chelsea. Newcastle are fighting for their lives and have little choice, but to try and take the game to the Toffees, pushing bodies forward whenever possible. When considering that each of these two sides are expected to prioritise attack over defence in this one, backing both teams to score may well prove the smart play.
