THE LOWDOWN
EVERTON
- Everton’s last Premier League fixture came all the way back on December 16th, when they drew 1-1 away at Chelsea with injuries and Covid-19 cases causing the postponement of games against Leicester, Burnley and Newcastle respectively.
- Regular starters such as Richarlison and Andros Townsend are missing through injury, which will hurt the Toffees from an attacking perspective, however this could be offset by the return off striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has not featured in the Premier League since August.
BRIGHTON
- Brighton will have been delighted to have come from behind against Chelsea this past Wednesday night, once again scoring late on to salvage a draw as they did against Southampton and West Ham, their third successive point away from home.
- Centre-back Lewis Dunk remains out with a knee problem and Belgian international Leandro Trossard is currently nursing a hamstring issue which saw him miss out against Chelsea and could also sideline him from this one.

THE PREDICTION
Despite having seen their last three Premier League fixtures postponed, Everton will be looking to make a fast start here at home with the Toffees fans expecting a positive result in their side’s first fixture at Goodison Park since their dramatic 2-1 victory over Arsenal. However, Brighton have shown that they don’t give up, even when trailing and pose a huge threat on the counter attack. The Seagulls have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last five away league games, whilst Everton have conceded at least once across their most recent six fixtures. When taking this into account, backing both teams to score looks very much the smart play.
