THE LOWDOWN

CRYSTAL PALACE

  • Crystal Palace ended a run of three successive Premier League defeats in emphatic style last Sunday, beating Everton 3-1 at Selhurst Park and are geared up for their second home game in the space of just four days.
  • It would be no surprise if the Eagles were to name an unchanged line-up following that victory, although either Joachim Andersen and/or James McArthur could potentially come into the side.

SOUTHAMPTON

  • The pressure is starting to mount on Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl with his side having not won in their last five league games, including most recently losing 3-0 away to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
  • Hasenhuttl currently finds himself handicapped by a mounting injury-list and could find himself without all three of his primary strikers for this match, with Che Adams ruled out and both Armando Broja and Adam Armstrong huge doubts, adding to the Saints’ injury problems within the goalkeeping department.

THE PREDICTION

The three points accrued by Crystal Palace over the weekend will have served as a huge confidence boost for Patrick Viera’s side and the question now is whether they can kick on with such a short turnaround in fixtures. Southampton in contrast, are a team clearly low on confidence and with so many injuries, are clearly lacking the required quality to trouble teams at this level. With home advantage in their favour, the Eagles should be able to capitalise on Southampton’s current struggles and with that in mind, consider backing them to come out on top here, although do so via the draw no bet market for added safety.
