THE LOWDOWN
CHELSEA
- Chelsea were pushed all the way by Leeds Utd on Saturday, but a second half stoppage time penalty from Jorginho, his second of the game saw Thomas Tuchel’s men overcome the Whites by three goals to two in a bad-tempered affair, meaning that Chelsea sit two points behind Premier League table toppers Man City in third-place.
- Both versatile defender Trevoh Chalobah and tireless midfielder N’Golo Kante stand a slim chance of recovering from injury in time to feature against Everton, although the likelihood is that both will miss out alongside Ben Chilwell and Mateo Kovacic
EVERTON
- Everton undid all their hard work in beating Arsenal, by surrendering to a meek 3-1 loss away at Crystal Palace last time out, leaving them still sat 14th-place in the Premier League table.
- The Toffees could have midfielder Allan back for this one after he missed the trip to South London through injury, although striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains absent, whilst both Andros Townsend and Richarlison are doubtful having both suffered knocks against the Eagles.
THE TEAM NEWS
CHELSEA

UNAVAILABLE: Chilwell (Injured), Kovacic (Isolating)
QUESTIONABLE: Chalobah (Injured), Kante (Injured)
EVERTON
PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Pickford; Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey; Delph; Gordon, Doucoure, Allan, Gray; Rondon
UNAVAILABLE: Calvert-Lewin (Injured), Davies (Injured), Mina (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Allan (Injured), Digne (Discipline), Richarlison (Injured), Townsend (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Chelsea will be well aware that a significant improvement is needed in this match compared to their last few fixtures, particularly from a defensive perspective, after having shipped eight goals across their most recent three games in all competitions. Fortunately for them, they face an Everton side likely to be missing their two main strikers and who have scored just once across their last three Premier League matches. Ultimately, the firepower of Chelsea going forward should be able to overwhelm the Toffees, especially if their performance against Crystal Palace is replicated, so backing a home victory in this one appears to be a no brainer.
