THE LOWDOWN

CHELSEA

  • Chelsea welcome West London rivals Brentford to Stamford Bridge looking to maintain their run of six straight victories in all competitions and build up further momentum ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first-leg against Real Madrid this coming Wednesday.
  • Head coach Thomas Tuchel is hugely boosted by the return to full training of full-back Reece James, although the England international is more likely to make his first start since injury against Real Madrid.

BRENTFORD

  • Brentford’s run of two successive Premier League wins came to an end just before the international break at the hands of Leicester and whilst the Bees sit eight points clear of the bottom three heading into this latest round of fixtures, they won’t feel safe just yet.
  • Julian Jeanvier remains sidelined and midfielder Josh Dasilva misses out through injury despite seeing his suspension come to an end, Christian Eriksen could start after featuring twice for Denmark across the international break.

THE PREDICTION

Chelsea probably have too much to do in terms of catching the top two, but in terms of securing a Champions League place for next season, the Blues are in an excellent position with five points currently separating them from fourth-placed Arsenal. Whilst Brentford certainly won’t roll over in a local derby and will make things very difficult for Tuchel’s men, the strength-in-depth of the hosts should see them overwhelm their opponents and ultimately come out on top.

Tip: CHELSEA TO WIN
