BURNLEY PREVIEW: RELEGATED BURNLEY AIM TO FINISH STRONG AFTER POOR PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN

Burnley fought hard away at Tottenham Hotspur last time out, but eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat following a late Spurs goal. That result saw Vincent Kompany’s relegated, sending them back to the Championship at the first time of asking after winning English football’s second tier last season. It caps off a hugely disappointing year in-which so much more had been expected of the Clarets.

Only five Premier League wins all season tells a stark story and Kompany has some big decisions to make over the summer should he remain with the Lancashire club. First order of business though is to end the campaign with a win at Turf Moor, laying down a marker for next season.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST PREVIEW: GOAL DIFFERENCE ENSURES FOREST SURVIVAL REGARDLESS OF RESULT

Nottingham Forest losing 2-3 at home to Chelsea in their last game denied them the chance to officially celebrate staying up in front of their own fans, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side still not mathematically safe. Luton Town’s defeat earlier in the day though, had given Forest a crucial buffer and with the gap between the two clubs at three points, it would take an unrealistic goal difference swing for Forest to drop on the last day.

Staying up will be an excellent achievement for a club who suffered a four-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. A number of controversial decisions going against them has also angered the Forest hierarchy, but to end the season still in the top flight is a testament to the fight of their players.

BURNLEY TEAM NEWS: ONLY KOLEOSHO STANDS A CHANCE OF RETURNING

Of Burnley’s current injury list, winger Luca Koleosho is the one player who could be passed fit in time to play some part in this same. Everybody else reminds out, with Jordan Beyer, Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond among those missing. Zeki Amdouni could be called upon to partner Lyle Foster up front for the Clarets.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Muric; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Taylor; Bruun Larsen, Cullen, Berge, Vitinho; Amdouni, Foster

UNAVAILABLE: Al Dakhil (Injured), Beyer (Injured), Ramsey (Injured), Redmond (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Koleosho (Injured)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST TEAM NEWS: DOMINGUEZ JOINS WILLIAMS ON INJURY LIST

Full-back Neco Williams will be unavailable for Nottingham Forest’s final game of the campaign having not recovered in time from a thigh injury. He’ll be joined on the sidelines by Nicolas Dominguez, the Argentinian having had surgery on an abdominal problem. Forest are expected to deploy five at the back, emphasising defensive stability and a solid set-up off the ball.

PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Sels; Montiel, Boly, Murillo, Niakhate, Aina; Gibbs-White, Yates, Danilo, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

UNAVAILABLE: Dominguez (Injured), Williams (Injured)

BURNLEY VS NOTTINGHAM FOREST PREDICTION

Nottingham Forest may take their foot off the gas from an attacking point of view over the course of this game with their survival sorely dependant on them ensuring their goal difference doesn’t take a heavy hit. They’ll be prioritising a low-scoring affair, whilst Burnley have struggled offensively all season, a key reason why they’ll be playing Championship football in 2024-25. With that in mind, back under 2.5 goals to be scored across 90 minutes here.
