THE LOWDOWN
BURNLEY
- Deadline day signing Wout Weghorst made his debut for Burnley in their crunch relegation six-pointer against Watford this past weekend, but could not influence the outcome as the game petered out to a 0-0 draw, leaving the Clarets still bottom of the table.
- Left-back Charlie Taylor is expected to miss out here, as is Matej Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, the latter still recovering from appendicitis, although Josh Brownhill returns from suspension and could start in midfield.
MAN UTD
- Smarting having been knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Championship side Middlesbrough at Old Trafford last Friday, Man Utd must pick themselves up as they return to league action and will be looking to take their frustrations out on Burnley, as they aim to keep their place in the Premier League’s top four assured.
- Captain Harry Maguire and Rafael Varane are expected to partner up in the centre of defence for this one as Victor Lindelof faces a late fitness test due to illness and Eric Bailly is a huge doubt through injury, whilst both Fred and Alex Telles miss out due to testing positive for COVID-19.

THE PREDICTION
The last time these two sides collided, Ralph Rangnick’s Man Utd emerged as comfortable winners by three goals to one at Old Trafford. With home advantage in Burnley’s favour this time, the Clarets need to find a way to improve their attacking potency, having scored just twice across their last seven Premier League fixtures. Draws are becoming less and less effective for Burnley who have to start putting wins on the board soon, however they aren’t expected to pick one up here against a club who have won on each of their last five visits to Turf Moor. United proved far stronger than Sean Dyche’s men in the reverse fixture and a similar outcome has to be favoured this time round.
Tip: MAN UTD TO WIN
