THE LOWDOWN
BURNLEY
Burnley have had two weeks to prepare for this match after last week's scheduled fixture with Luton was postponed due to the Hatters' stadium requiring improvements in order to meet Premier League standards.
The promoted side opened the Premier League season with a 0-3 defeat to reigning champions Man City but Vincent Kompany has vowed that his team will only improve as the season progresses, and their fate will not come down to defeats against such elite opposition.
ASTON VILLA
Aston Villa showed that their heavy opening weekend defeat to Newcastle was something of a freak result as they bounced back in superb style by defeating Everton 4-0 last weekend.
Unai Emery's men followed that up with a resounding 0-5 win against Hibernian in the Europa Conference League on Wednesday, with striker Ollie Watkins helping himself to a hat-trick that will surely do wonders for his confidence as he goes in search of his first league goal of the campaign.
THE TEAM NEWS
BURNLEY
Burnley have made a number of new signings recently and it remains to be seen which of the new recruits make it into the Kompany's thinking here. With Premier League experience, Aaron Ramsey is perhaps the most likely to feature from the off, although Wilson Odobert and Hannes Delcroix could also be given gametime.
Anass Zaroury is suspended after his late red card against Man City in the opening Premier League game of the season.
PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Trafford; Roberts, Al Dakhil, O'Shea, Delcroix, Vitinho; Odobert, Berge, Ramsey, Foster; Amdouni
UNAVAILABLE: Obafemi (Injured), Churlinov (Injured), Zaroury (Suspended)
QUESTIONABLE: Beyer (Injured)
ASTON VILLA
Emiliano Martinez picked up an injury in the midweek Europa Conference League victory over Hibernian but Unai Emery will give the World Cup winner as long as possible to prove his fitness. Robin Olsen is waiting in the wings to replace him if need be.
Given the manner of the performance last weekend against Everton, Emery is otherwise likely to go unchanged from that match.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, DIgne; Kamara, Luiz; Bailey, Diaby, McGinn; Watkins
UNAVAILABLE: Mings (Injured), Iroegbunam (Injured), Dendoncker (Injured), Ramsey (Injured), Coutinho (Injured), Buendia (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Martinez (Injured), Moreno (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Vincent Kompany will have his men well-prepared for the visit of Aston Villa but it is another difficult fixture for the Clarets against a side who have scored nine goals in their last two games in all competitions. Villa striker Ollie Watkins continues to improve and his midweek hat-trick in European action is bound to have given him the taste for goals. He will fancy his chances of finding the net against Burnley, and could be one to look out for in the anytime goalscorer market.
TIP: OLLIE WATKINS TO SCORE ANYTIME
