THE LOWDOWN
BRIGHTON
- Graham Potter’s well-drilled Brighton outfit were in stark contrast to a ragged Man Utd last week and the Seagulls got their just reward with a deserved three points on the opening weekend, with two-goal man Pascal Gross and former Red Devil Danny Welbeck standing out in particular.
- The manager has reported no new injury concerns with long-term absentee Jakub Moder the only player occupying the treatment room at the moment, and it would be no surprise if an unchanged line-up is named here.
NEWCASTLE
- The optimism around St. James’ Park was palpable last weekend with hopes high of further improvement this season, and Eddie Howe’s men did not disappoint with an accomplished 2-0 victory over Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest.
- Eddie Howe may well keep faith with the same XI although he has spoken highly of young centre-back Sven Botman to the press while Federico Fernandez and Jamal Lewis have resumed training and will be eased back into action.

THE PREDICTION
Both sides come into this off the back of promising opening weekend wins and there is plenty of optimism in both camps. That is where the similarities end though, with Graham Potter’s Brighton an excellently coached team on a modest budget, while money-rich Newcastle appear to be thriving in the early stages of the well-publicised Saudi-backed regime. It’s difficult to call this one, but with both sides solid in defence, a tactical chess match could ensue. For that reason, backing under 2.5 goals is the suggestion in the betting market.
TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
