BRENTFORD PREVIEW: BUZZ ABOUT THE BEES
Thomas Frank and his Brentford side have had to endure several injury and suspension issues throughout the last 12 months and the Bees had badly struggled as a result of that last season. However, with the form and fitness of Bryan Mbeumo as well as Frank’s ability to innovate and be flexible, they look a lot better once again this season.
They have started the campaign with really tricky away games against Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur but competed in defeat, taking the lead in the latter two matches very early on. At home, they have collected seven points from three matches and will believe they can be properly competitive again this year.
WOLVES PREVIEW: WOLVES’ HOWLING START
When thrown into the deep end on the eve of last season following the surprise and sudden resignation of Julen Lopetegui, Gary O’Neil swam. He led Wolverhampton Wanderers to a comfortable mid-table finish when it could well have been a situation in which the club would be described as ‘in disarray’.
However, the season ended really badly, beginning with a late 3-2 defeat to Coventry City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup before they then endured a long poor run in the Premier League and they even remain winless throughout this season, too, following a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Molineux last weekend.
BRENTFORD TEAM NEWS: NORGAARD BACK, HENRY CLOSE
Thomas Frank has been able to provide a positive injury update in his pre-match press conference with Christian Norgaard definitely back available for this weekend's clash with Wolves.
Rico Henry has also returned to training this week after a significant absence due to injury but he remains a few weeks away from being back involved in first-team action.
PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Schade, Norgaard, Janelt, Lewis-Potter; Carvalho, Mbeumo
UNAVAILABLE: Hickey (Injured), Henry (Injured), Dasilva (Injured), Gustavo Nunes (Injured), Wissa (Injured), Igor Thiago (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Jensen (Injured)
WOLVES TEAM NEWS: DEFENSIVE INJURIES
Gary O'Neil has described Uruguay international defender Santi Bueno as 'ok' for this one against Brentford, whilst Craig Dawson has returned to partial training this week but remains a doubt for this one.
Summer signing Bastien Meupiyou remains unavailable but is expected to return to training next week, whilst both Yerson Mosquera and Boubacar Traore are also sidelined for the visitors.
PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Johnstone; Semedo, Bueno, Toti, Ait-Nouri; Andre; Cunha, Lemina, Joao Gomes, Bellegarde; Strand Larsen
UNAVAILABLE: Meupiyou (Injured), Mosquera (Injured), Traore (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Dawson (Injured)
BRENTFORD VS WOLVES PREDICTION
For the first time in Premier League history, Brentford have scored in the opening minute of a match in three successive games but they are yet to win any of them. Their performance level has been high, though, and they have had a tough fixture list. Wolves aren’t as bad as their own results have suggested but this is a really tough test and, especially with home advantage, backing the Bees looks the way to go for this one.
