THE LOWDOWN

BRENTFORD

  • Brentford produced a late equaliser for the second successive game when Yoane Wissa headed home to secure a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on Tuesday, with Thomas Frank’s squad once again displaying their battling qualities.
  • Midfielder Christian Norgaard has been ruled out for “weeks” due to an Achilles injury, but Frank should be able to call upon both Kristoffer Ajer and former Leeds Utd player Pontus Jansson.

LEEDS UTD

  • Luis Sinisterra’s first Premier League goal saw Leeds come from behind to snatch a draw from Everton on Tuesday, although Jesse Marsch’s side have been rocked by the shoulder injury sustained by in-form Rodrigo in the first half.
  • The Spanish international’s absence could pave the way for Patrick Bamford’s return to the starting XI, while Joe Gelhardt is another option after both featured from the bench against Everton.

THE TEAM NEWS

BRENTFORD

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Raya; Hickey, Jansson, Mee, Henry; Da Silva, Janelt, Jensen; Mbeumo, Toney, Wissa

UNAVAILABLE: Canos (Injured), Norgaard (Injured), Pinnock (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Jansson (Injured), Ajer (Fitness)

LEEDS UTD

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Meslier; Kristensen, Cooper, Llorente, Struijk; Adams, Roca; Sinisterra, Aaronson, Harrison; Bamford

UNAVAILABLE: Dallas (Injured), Rodrigo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Cooper (Fitness), Ayling (Fitness), Firpo (Fitness)

THE PREDICTION

Brentford and Leeds have suffered just one defeat apiece from their first five league games of the season, so both Thomas Frank and Jesse Marsch will be content with the way things are going right now and will be reasonably confident of a result here. The loss of Rodrigo – set for around a month on the sidelines – is undoubtedly a blow but Leeds nevertheless boast some exciting attacking talent that should cause the Bees defence problems here. The same can be said at the other end though, with Ivan Toney an ever-present threat, so goals at both ends looks distinctly possible in this one.
