THE LOWDOWN

BRENTFORD

  • Victory away at Everton last weekend continued Brentford’s impressive second-half to the campaign. Since Christian Eriksen made his Bees debut, the west London club have been fourth in the Premier League table, behind Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
  • They have been blighted by some serious long-term injuries throughout the campaign but have gradually welcomed back key midfielder Josh DaSilva. They could begin easing their other long-term absentee from the midfield, Frank Onyeka, back into selection, too.

LEEDS UTD

  • Jesse Marsch is under serious pressure at Elland Road. The former RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig boss has had a horror run of fixtures but Leeds remain in touch with safety. Their point, rescued in second-half stoppage-time, at home to Brighton last weekend has maintained their hope of survival.
  • Marsch has blamed Marcelo Bielsa for the plethora of injuries that Leeds have suffered throughout the season. A small squad being over-trained, as Marsch suggests, has left them depleted at times this season. They didn’t pick up any new niggles against Brighton but remain without suspended key men such as Luke Ayling and Daniel James.

THE PREDICTION

Since the start of March, Brentford have been absolutely phenomenal. The Bees, as mentioned, have been in the top four over the last three months of Premier League action. Christian Eriksen has inspired an already well-controlled side to some attacking highs. They have scored 20 goals in their last ten games, managing three or more on four occasions. Jesse Marsch’s style of play has always been entertaining and that has remained the case at Leeds with some fairly chaotic and hectic form. The visitors come into this, though, on the back of a five-match winless run of form with just two goals in that time. Despite that, the ability to ‘go at’ teams remains and, given that a draw may not be enough if Burnley avoid defeat at home to Newcastle, this one should be another entertaining encounter.
