THE LOWDOWN
BOURNEMOUTH
Bournemouth begin the new campaign with a new man in charge with Andoni Iraola now occupying the hot seat following Gary O'Neil's dismissal. There have been some promising pre-season performances under the new boss, and the hope is that they will not be dragged into a relegation battle this season.
The Cherries have been more active than most in the transfer market with almost 100m being spent on freshening up the squad - a significant statement of intent from the club's hierarchy.
WEST HAM
West Ham's pre-season preparations were a tale of two halves as they began in fine fashion with three straight victories but they have dipped considerably in their most recent outings, sparking some concern amongst Hammers fans.
A lack of decisive action in the transfer market certainly hasn't helped change the feeling that David Moyes' side could be in for a season of struggle, and it seems imperative that they get off to a good start in the league.
THE TEAM NEWS
BOURNEMOUTH
Marcus Tavernier, Lloyd Kelly, Antoine Semenyo, Ryan Fredericks and new signing Alex Scott will miss out through injury while Adam Smith, Ryan Christie and Dominic Solanke all have varying levels of doubt hanging over their participation, although the latter seems likely to recover in time to lead the Cherries line
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Hill, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Billing, Cook; Outtara, Christie, Anthony; Solanke
UNAVAILABLE: Tavernier (Injured). Fredericks (Injured), Kelly (Injured), Scott (Injured), Semenyo (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Smith (Injured), Christie (Injured), Solanke (Fitness)
WEST HAM
New signing Edson Alvarez is not being considered for selection just yet, while Lucas Paqueta is carrying a small knock and it remains to be seen whether David Moyes selects the Brazilian in light of that and also the speculation linking him with a move to Man City.
Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski have shared pre-season minutes and will compete for the goalkeeper jersey, while the rest of the XI could have a very 'last season' feel to it.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Areola; Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Emerson; Downes, Soucek, Paqueta; Bowen, Antonio, Benrahma
UNAVAILABLE: Alvarez (Unknown)
QUESTIONABLE: Paqueta (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Despite their Europa Conference League success last season, there isn't a great deal of optimism about West Ham this season and there is a feeling that David Moyes may not stay the distance. Things could really turn sour if they get off to a bad start, and hosts Bournemouth will be more than happy to oblige. The Cherries should have a spring in their step under a new manager, and with their personnel - some of them new faces - looking to impress the new boss, consider backing the Cherries to kick off the season with three points.
TIP: BOURNEMOUTH TO WIN
