THE LOWDOWN
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola’s AFC Bournemouth begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table but the Cherries do still have an outside chance of finishing in the top seven or the top eight places and potentially achieving European qualification. They did, though, recently benefit from a good run of form against some of the weakest teams in the league.
They went on a run whereby they collected ten points from four matches against Sheffield United, Burnley, Luton Town and Crystal Palace but were not convincing in any of those performances really. Then, when they went away to Luton Town at the weekend, they suffered a 2-1 loss to the Hatters with Carlton Morris scoring a late winning goal.
MAN UTD
Erik ten Hag is under pressure. The talk is that Manchester United will stick with the Dutchman over the summer and keep him in charge for next season but the fact of the matter is, the Red Devils have significantly underperformed, once again, as they head into the run in with their entire season dependant on defeating Coventry City in an FA Cup semi-final next weekend.
In 43 matches across all competitions so far this season, United have managed to, quite astonishingly, win just six of those by more than a solitary goal. For context, both Liverpool and Manchester City have won more than half of their 49 matches so far this season by more then a one-goal margin.
THE TEAM NEWS
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that his Bournemouth squad are still suffering from a recent illness that has gone through the camp. Chris Mepham has missed both matches since they were hit with it and the Welshman is expected to remain unavailable.
Marcus Tavernier and Antoine Semenyo are also sidelined through injury for this weekend alongside the likes of Ryan Fredericks and Luis Sinisterra.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie; Kluivert, Scott, Ouattara; Solanke
UNAVAILABLE: Mepham (Illness), Fredericks (Injured), Adams (Injured), Tavernier (Injured), Sinisterra (Injured), Semenyo (Injured)

MAN UTD
Erik ten Hag confirmed that Marcus Rashford trained yesterday but remains a doubt for this weekend and will continue to be assessed ahead of the clash with Bournemouth. Scott McTominay is more of a doubt.
Left-back duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain unavailable for the visitors, whilst Anthony Martial is also expected to be missing. Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are all out injured, too.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Maguire, Kambwala, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund
UNAVAILABLE: Evans (Injured), Lindelof (Injured), Varane (Injured), Martinez (Injured), Malacia (Injured), Shaw (Injured), Martial (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: McTominay (Injured), Rashford (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
The reverse fixture between these two back in December saw Bournemouth run riot at Old Trafford with a 3-0 win that really should have been 4-0 but for a fairly dubious VAR call. The Cherries have convinced a lot more often than Manchester United this season but, to Ten Hag and United’s credit, they have managed to find ways and shown genuine determination to pick up points. Bournemouth will be confident of scoring but backing United to somehow get over the line almost seems sensible at this stage.
