THE LOWDOWN
ASTON VILLA
- Despite being afforded numerous chances after going behind early on at Old Trafford, Aston Villa fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Man Utd last Monday in the FA Cup third round, but are afforded an early opportunity at retribution here.
- Aston Villa fans will be eager to get their first glimpse of new signing Philippe Coutinho and the Barcelona loanee is likely to feature from the bench, with fellow incomer Lucas Digne more likely to make his debut from the start at left-back, although Villa are weakened by the suspension of central midfielder John McGinn.
MAN UTD
- Man Utd’s FA Cup win over Villa was unconvincing, but sent fans home happy after losing to Wolves in their most recent Premier League game and with the Red Devils six points adrift of the top four ahead of this latest round of fixtures, three points are a necessity in this one.
- After not featuring in the FA Cup match for United, Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to return to the starting line-up although he has been struggling with a knock, whilst both Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are out through suspension.

THE PREDICTION
Aston Villa will have felt extremely hard done by to have not come away from Manchester having knocked the Red Devils out of the FA Cup and this should serve as the ideal motivation for them to gain revenge in the Premier League with home advantage in their favour this time. Whilst David De Gea will no doubt make things as difficult as possible for them again, Aston Villa are not expected to miss the volume of chances they did at Old Trafford here at Villa Park. Clearly all is not well within the Man Utd camp at present and they could well cave in amid a vociferous home crowd, so should Aston Villa replicate their level of performance shown this past Monday, then they are more than capable of gaining at least a point, if not all three from this one. Utilise the double chance market to back the home side for either a win or a draw against United.
Tip: ASTON VILLA TO WIN/DRAW DOUBLE CHANCE
