THE LOWDOWN
ASTON VILLA
It's been a mixed start to the campaign for Aston Villa with two comfortable victories mixed in with a pair of heavy defeats, but this is certainly a fixture that Unai Emery will be expecting some points from.
Their most recent Premier League fixture was the 3-0 loss to Liverpool prior to the international break. Villa were up against it from the off when Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool an early lead, and matters were made worse when Matty Cash put into his own net some 20 minutes later. Emery's men pushed and probed but a Mohamed Salah goal early in the second half put the result beyond any doubt.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Crystal Palace are in a comfortable position in the table following the first four Premier League fixtures, with their latest being a 3-2 victory over Wolves, so confidence is relatively high in the camp right now with Roy Hodgson getting a tune out of his players.
The Palace attack was certainly clicking against Wolves, with an Odsonne Edouard double sandwiching Eberechi Eze's first goal of the campaign, and although Wolves put up stiff resistance at times, Hodgson's men were deserving of their victory.
THE TEAM NEWS
ASTON VILLA
Diego Carlos suffered an injury against Liverpool last time out and will take no part in this fixture, so Emery could turn to Leander Dendoncker to fill in one of the defensive roles.
Jacob Ramsey and Bertrand Traore are both close to a return to the squad, while Alex Moreno could be fit enough for this one after making progress in his recovery from a thigh injury.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Martinez; Konsa, Dendoncker, Torres; Cash, Kamara, Luiz, Digne; Diaby, McGinn; Watkins
UNAVAILABLE: Mings (Injured), Carlos (Injured), Iroegbunam (Injured), Buendia (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Moreno (Injured), Ramsey (Injured), Traore (Injured)
CRYSTAL PALACE
Hodgson has problems in defence with Marc Guehi likely to miss this one and James Tomkins also carrying an injury he picked up in training. Chris Richards, then, could deputise alongside Joachim Andersen. Dean Henderson, meanwhile, could make his Palace debut.
In midfield, Jefferson Lerma injured his hamstring while on international duty, so fit-again Will Hughes is a strong candidate to start.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Henderson; Ward, Andersen, Richards, Mitchell; Eze, Doucoure, Lerma; Ayew, Edouard, Schlupp
UNAVAILABLE: Tomkins (Injured), Lerma (Injured), Olise (Injured), Franca (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Guehi (Injured), Ferguson (Fitness), Ebiowei (Fitness)
THE PREDICTION
An entertaining contest should ensue here between two teams who will believe they can get something out of this game. It would be no surprise to see goals as there have been 11 goals scored in Crystal Palace's last two game in all competitions, while all six of Aston Villa's competitive matches this season have contained at least three goals. With this in mind, consider backing over 2.5 goals in the betting markets.
TIP: OVER 2.5 GOALS
