THE LOWDOWN
ASTON VILLA
- Aston Villa bounced back expertly from defeat to Liverpool last weekend with a 0-2 victory away at Norwich on Tuesday night, their fourth win in six under Steven Gerrard’s management.
- Wingers Leon Bailey and Bertrand Traore remain out and are joined by Marvelous Nakamba on the treatment table, with Keinan Davis, Anwar El Ghazi, Morgan Sandon and Jed Steer currently their only Covid-19 related misses.
BURNLEY
- Burnley’s relegation six-pointer at home to Watford in midweek was postponed less than a few hours before kick-off due to the Covid-19 outbreak within the Hornets camp and with their game this weekend already postponed, victory here for the Clarets would take them out of the bottom three.
- Influential attacker Maxwel Cornet could be fit to play some part in this one alongside Dale Stephens, who is back in training after recovering from Covid-19, however both striker Ashley Barnes and full-back Connor Roberts are missing.

THE PREDICTION
Aston Villa’s only defeats so far under Steven Gerrard have come against the Premier League’s top two in Man City and Liverpool, a testament to the job that he has done so far. Burnley however, will prove no pushovers as they continue to fight for their lives at the bottom of the table. Ultimately though, the attacking quality within the Aston Villa line-up should overwhelm a Burnley defence who have kept just one clean sheet so far this season and with home advantage in their favour, back Gerrard’s side to edge out the Clarets in this one.
