ARSENAL
- Arsenal slipped to a second straight defeat in dramatic fashion last Monday, collapsing from one nil up against Everton to lose 2-1, piling pressure back on to boss Mikel Arteta.
- Key midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe was badly missed against the Toffees and faces a race against time to be for this one but Gabriel Martinelli is expected to be available following a hamstring problem which forced him off the field at Goodison Park.
SOUTHAMPTON
- Southampton were stunned in the dying embers of their match against Brighton having been 1-0 to the good, conceding deep into second half stoppage time and leaving them now on four straight Premier League matches without a win.
- Centre-back Mohammed Salisu and midfielder Oriol Romeu are both suspended for this one, whilst injuries to their two senior goalkeepers in Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster has seen the Saints draft in former Man City stopper Willy Caballero as an emergency signing and the Argentinian may well find himself thrown into the starting line-up here.

THE PREDICTION
Arsenal have every reason to be worried following their most recent two league results, as they struggled to create many meaningful chances are always looked vulnerable at the back. With home advantage in their favour, the expectation is that the Gunners will dictate the majority of play here, dominating possession in a bid to fashion opportunities on goal. However, Southampton are more than capable of digging and frustrating their opponents with an eye on any potential counter-attacks, so this could lead to a turgid encounter. Neither of these two teams tend to score many goals and when taking this into account, backing under 2.5 goals to be scored between them at Emirates Stadium looks like being the smart play.
