THE LOWDOWN
ARSENAL
Under the management of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have suffered from some stuttering form of late as they drift away from being genuine title challengers again this season. The Gunners have failed to take advantage of having more or less a fully fit squad with defending champions Manchester City enduring some poor form and also FIFA Club World Cup involvement.
They went into their mini winter break on the back of having more silverware taken away as they suffered a 2-0 loss at home to Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup, despite a generally impressive performance. The Gunners have now managed just one victory in their last seven matches across all competitions.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Roy Hodgson is coming under increasing pressure at Crystal Palace at the continued in midweek with his second-half substitution of Eberechi Eze, with The Eagles 1-0 down to Everton at Goodison Park in their FA Cup third round replay, being greeted by chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ by the travelling Palace supporters.
The Croydon-based outfit come into this weekend’s fixtures sitting in the bottom-half of the table and being very grateful for a relatively fast start to the season – otherwise they’d be in real trouble. Palace defeated Brentford by three goals to one before the New Year but that means they have managed just two victories in their last 15 matches across all competitions.
THE TEAM NEWS
ARSENAL
Mikel Arteta has said that ‘we still gave a few unfortunately on that list that we haven’t managed to get back yet, but hopefully they are much closer and some of them are in a better place than we expected.’ He wouldn’t be specific on which players may return this weekend.
Gabriel Jesus is one of those that is expected to be facing a late fitness test. Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey and Fabio Vieira all remain unavailable, whilst Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny are away on international duty.

QUESTIONABLE: Zinchenko (Injured), Gabriel Jesus (Injured)
CRYSTAL PALACE
Roy Hodgson has continued to be coy and seemingly harsh on the potential involvement of Matheus Franca and David Ozoh for this weekend. However, he is confident on being able to maintain the fitness levels of Eberechi Eze, whilst Michael Olise is still out injured.
Cheick Doucoure remains unavailable for this weekend and he is going to be missing for the rest of the campaign. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is progressing well but he is also expected to be unavailable for this one, alongside the likes of Rob Holding and Joel Ward.
PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Henderson; Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Schlupp, Richards, Lerma, Hughes, Eze; Mateta

THE PREDICTION
Arsenal are really lacking any cutting edge and general form at the moment as they try and stay in touch with the Premier League title race. However, performances have remained generally quite steady as they welcome a Crystal Palace side to the Emirates Stadium that are in flux and missing several key men for this weekend. A comfortable home win is to be expected and the potential return of Gabriel Jesus will be very welcome news for The Gunners.
