USA PREVIEW: RESPONDING TO DEFEAT
Ahead of the tournament it was viewed as quite a comfortable route through to the quarter-finals with the United States being drawn into quite an ‘easy’ group. That appeared to be a prediction likely to be fulfilled when they defeated Bolivia by two goals to nil in their opener.
However, an ill-tempered encounter against Panama in which both teams had a man sent off means they head into this final group game knowing a victory is likely to be required with Panama turning the game on its head to stunningly win by two goals to one.
URUGUAY PREVIEW: EASING THEMSELVES THROUGH
Under the management of former Leeds United and Olympique de Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa, Uruguay have been revitalised for the last ten or so months and the two-time world champions will be eyeing up this competition as a potentially historic and famous one.
They began their campaign with an eventually comfortable 3-1 defeat of what is a stubborn Panama side before then the performance of the tournament as they annihilated Bolivia by five goals to nil to ease themselves to the verge of quarter-final qualification.
USA TEAM NEWS: WEAH OUT SUSPENDED
The USA will be without Timothy Weah with the former Lille man one of the two players sent off in that game against Panama. There is an expectation that it will be a slightly more defensive switch with midfielder Tyler Adams coming in to make it 4-3-3.

The United States will not take the game to Uruguay. There is a feeling that the talent in the American squad is not and has not been utilised to the best standard with a lot of attacking potential almost wasted under Berhalter. Uruguay, though, may be frustrated by that approach as there are not many sides better than them at playing into space. Despite that, though, the Uruguayans remain firm favourites for this one.
