It was an extremely underwhelming performance in their opener for what is fast becoming a historically poor Brazilian side and they must get a win against an under pressure Paraguayan side here.

PARAGUAY PREVIEW: GIVING IT A GO

Paraguay have endured a difficult start to CONMEBOL qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and does rank them as one of the weakest teams in South America. That status was reinforced in their opening game of this tournament.

An impressive Colombian side almost ran riot in the first-half with goals from Crystal Palace duo Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma before Brighton and Hove Albion forward Julio Enciso notched what did turn out to be a consolation in the 69th minute.

BRAZIL PREVIEW: A LOSS OF QUALITY

The Brazilians, as was spoken about publicly by legend Ronaldinho, came into the tournament with a low mood due to the lack of real genuine quality throughout their squad and it does have a feeling that Dorival Junior is in temporary charge of the Selecao.

They have also started their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign poorly and their goalless draw against Costa Rica the other night to kick off their Copa America campaign means they have now managed just four victories in their last 18 matches.

PARAGUAY TEAM NEWS: NO MIGUEL ALMIRON

Paraguay surprised many in their opener with Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron not in the team. The expectation was for a 4-2-3-1 system but instead they are playing 4-4-2 with Julio Enciso and Alex Arce up-front.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Rodrigo Morinigo; Gustavo Velazquez, Fabian Balbuena, Omar Alderete, Matias Espinoza; Ramon Sosa, Damian Bobadilla, Andres Cubas, Angel Romero; Julio Enciso, Alex Arce

BRAZIL TEAM NEWS: SEARCHING FOR A SPARK

The Brazilians are lacking real quality across the pitch but there is some intent up-front. Manchester City-bound Savio is expected to play in a mobile front three alongside Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

PARAGUAY VS BRAZIL PREDICTION

Paraguay are one of the weakest teams in South America but there is a decent argument that Costa Rica would be towards the bottom of the ten-team CONMEBOL table and they managed to defend well enough to secure a point against the Brazilians. Julio Enciso will remain their biggest threat but beyond the Brighton man there is a lack of goalscoring options. Brazil are favourites but it is expected to be a turgid affair for a team lacking cohesion and quality.
