United States head into this CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-final having won all of their four games played at the tournament so far, conceding just one goal with a hard fought 1-0 triumph over Jamaica in the quarter-finals seeing them through to the last four. They face Qatar, who have proven quite the entertainers so far having racked 12 goals across their four fixtures, the most of the four countries remaining in the competition. This clash is shaping up to be one of defence vs attack, with the Qatar frontline full of confidence and aware that they themselves will find it difficult to shut out a strong United States team themselves, based on their defensive display vs El Salvador in the quarter-final, which saw them concede when 3-0 up leading to a nervy conclusion.
