After leaving Sevilla in March, Jorge Sampaoli was appointed Flamengo boss but the Rio de Janeiro club started the 2023 Brazilian Serie A season slowly. However, the hosts now come into this on the back of a 2-1 win at home to Racing Club in their most recent outing in the group stages of the Copa Libertadores during the midweek and they have now gone unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions. They now face a Gremio side that, following promotion last season, have started relatively well and pulled off a surprise 2-1 win against Sao paulo last weekend. Despite that, though, Flamengo are firm favourites for this one, especially with their current form and home advantage.
