2020-21 UAE Pro League winners Al Jazira face off against the reigning champions of Tahiti in the opening round of the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup. Pirae weren’t originally scheduled to compete in this competition, but were offered the spot reserved for an Oceania representative following the withdrawal of Auckland City due to reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, opponents Al Jazira represents a huge step up in quality compared to what Pirae are used to facing and it would be no surprise to see them struggle here.
