THE TEAM NEWS

SENEGAL

Aliou Cisse made a couple of changes to the Senegalese side that eventually comfortably defeated Guinea by two goals to nil and that is expected to be the case again. Nicolas Jackson is still not fully fit but is seemingly behind both Habib Diallo and Iliman Ndiaye in the pecking order anyway.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): E. Mendy; Diatta, Koulibaly, A. Diallo, Jakobs; P. Sarr, Camara, P. Gueye; I. Sarr, H. Diallo, Mane

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Jackson (Injured)

IVORY COAST

Ivory Coast begin the Round of 16 manager-less after Jean-Louis Gasset was sacked as a result of being beaten 4-0 by Equatorial Guinea. They somehow squeezed through, though, with captain Serge Aurier likely to return to the eleven.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Y. Fofana; Aurier, Boly, Ndicka, Konan; Sangare, Kessie, S. Fofana; Bamba, Kouame, Pepe

THE PREDICTION

Prior to the campaign, this one features two of the standout and biggest names on the African continent but they find themselves in very different situations. Senegal, under the management of Aliou Cisse, are defending champions and the only team to progress into the knockout stages with a 100% record in the groups. They now face the hosts, Ivory Coast, who sacked manager Jean-Louis Gasset and are still making arrangements with the possibility of a short-term deal being offered to Herve Renard, who won this competition with the Ivorians back in 2015. However, even with the impressive Renard potentially in the dugout, Senegal have to be overwhelming favourites against a host nation that were very fortunate to go through as one of the four best third-placed teams.

TIP: SENEGAL TO WIN
