With an improving squad in terms of the quality of their personnel, Rwanda started 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualification with a 1-1 draw against Libya, whilst Nigeria impressively, and quite surprisingly, hammered Benin the other day.

RWANDA PREVIEW: STEADY START

In their opening qualifier for the 2025 AFCON, Rwanda began the new international cycle steadily as they shared a 1-1 draw with an improving Libya side at the Tripoli Stadium in the Libyan capital of Tripoli the other day.

Rwanda found themselves 1-0 down early on when Libya took a surprise 16th minute lead. However, they equalised just after half-time with a strike from Innocent Nshuti in the 47th minute earning them a point.

NIGERIA PREVIEW: SUPERB SUPER EAGLES

Without a manager due to disorganisation within the Nigerian FA after Jose Peseiro left shortly after leading Nigeria to the final of the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, Nigeria’s form has been underwhelming ever since.

However, the Super Eagles put in an excellent performance to hammer a Benin side that defeated them in June. Ademola Lookman notched a brace with goals coming either side of a strike from new Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen.

RWANDA TEAM NEWS: FULLY FIT

Despite what may be viewed as a potentially frustrating defeat the other day, there appears no fitness or suspension reason for Rwanda to make too many changes for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ntwari; Omborenga, Mutsinzi, Manzi, Niyomugabo; Bizimana, Rubanguka; Kwizera, Muhire, Mugisha; Nshuti

NIGERIA TEAM NEWS: SWAPPING VICTORS

RWANDA VS NIGERIA PREDICTION

Rwanda come into this one on the back of a frustrating start to their qualification campaign after a couple of years in which they have gradually improved. They now face a Nigerian side that have played some good football the other day, completely going against their general form since AFCON at the start of the year. Another Nigeria win to make it six points and flying would seem a good bet for this one.
