THE TEAM NEWS
NIGERIA
After their opening match, Nigeria decided to switch from a back four to a back three to allow more freedom for their attacking players without an extra central midfielder. The Super Eagles have no reported availability concerns for this semi-final so will likely remain unchanged for this one.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Nwabali; Ajayi, Troost-Ekong, Bassey; Aina, Onyeka, Iwobi, Sanusi; Simon, Osimhen, Lookman
UNAVAILABLE:
QUESTIONABLE:
SOUTH AFRICA
Khuliso Mudau was a 103rd minute substitute against Cabo Verde the other day, replaced by Nyiko Mobbie who had started the tournament at right-back. The exciting Thapelo Maseko had to be substituted with a slight injury, too, but there are no doubts aside from that.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Williams; Mudau, Kekana, Mvala, Modiba; Mokoena, Sithole; Morena, Zwane, Tau; Makgopa
UNAVAILABLE:
QUESTIONABLE: Mobbie (Injured), Maseko (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Nigeria came into the tournament in genuinely concerning and unconvincing form but have gradually improved as the campaign has gone on, without seeming too fluent in attack. They edged past a strong Angolan side on Friday and now face another team that have impressed thus far. South Africa have kept four successive clean sheets since they defeated Mali in their opening match so whilst Nigeria are the favourites, it is expected to be a low-scoring encounter even if the Nigerians come out on top.
TIP: NIGERIA TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
