THE TEAM NEWS

MAURITANIA

Aboubakar Kamara was forced off in Mauritania’s first game but he was a substitute before the hour mark against Angola so is actually expected to return. Aly Abeid is also a doubt for this weekend with Khalim Diaw replacing their captain at half-time on Saturday evening.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Niasse; Keita, El Abd, L. Ba, Diaw; Gassama, Bodda; Amar, P. Ba, Kamara; Koita

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Abeid (Injured)

ALGERIA

Djamel Belmadi decided to make a substitution at half-time of Algeria’s 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso with Sofiane Feghouli replaced by Mohammed Amoura. The north Africans are still searching for some fluency so Belmadi may be keen on a couple of changes.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Mandrea; Atal, Mandi, Bensebaini, Ait-Nouri; Bentaleb; Mahrez, Amoura, Zerrouki, Belaili; Bounedjah

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Feghouli (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Mauritania have suffered back-to-back defeats against Burkina Faso and Angola to kick off their Africa Cup of Nations group stage campaign and, ranked 105th in the world according to FIFA, are among the weakest sides in this competition. For a second successive AFCON campaign, Algeria have dramatically underperformed after a strong run leading into the tournament but Djamel Belmadi’s side will qualify for the knockout stages if they win this one; which they should.

TIP: ALGERIA TO WIN
