THE TEAM NEWS

MALI

Mali stuck with their 4-4-2 diamond shape as they defeated Burkina Faso by two goals to one the other day and the surprise omission of Yves Bissouma from their starting eleven appears likely to continue as they push for a final four spot.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-2-1-2): Diarra; H. Traore, Kouyate, Niakate, Sacko; Camara; Coulibaly, Haidara; Doumbia; Sinayoko, A. Traore

IVORY COAST

Sebastian Haller was unavailable for the opening couple of matches for Ivory Coast but he has returned and came off the bench against Senegal in the Round of 16 the other day. There appears no availability concerns for the Ivorians.

PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Fofana; Aurier, Kossounou, Ndicka, Konan; Diakite, Sangare, Seri, Fofana, Gradel; Haller

THE PREDICTION

Mali were very impressive the other day as they held off 2022 semi-finalists Burkina Faso by two goals to one on Tuesday evening. The Malians have a very strong midfield but have lacked a little efficiency in attack, although Lassine Sinayoko was excellent in that aforementioned victory. They now face the hosts, Ivory Coast, who somehow came through the group as one of the better third placed teams, despite having already parted company with manager, Jean-Louis Gasset. Caretaker boss, Emerse Fae, oversaw the Ivorians defeating the defending champions on penalties in the Round of 16 as they start to believe it is written in the stars. Given that shock win and their home advantage, an Ivorian would appear the way to go for this one.

TIP: IVORY COAST TO WIN
