MALAWI PREVIEW: STRUGGLING SO FAR

The Malawi national side have improved a little over the last couple of years but they remain one of the weakest sides in the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign and they have suffered three defeats in their three qualifying matches so far.

The home team, coached by former Malawi U20 boss Patrick Mabedi, Malawi started their campaign with a 3-2 defeat at home to Burundi during the September international break before then suffering a 3-1 loss to Burkina Faso.

SENEGAL PREVIEW: STRONG SENEGAL

Aliou Cisse remains in charge of a Senegalese side that won the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in 2022 and also reached the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup but it could well be that there is a stagnation within their squad that could see them decline.

However, the Lions of Teranga have seemingly rediscovered a spark in their most recent outing as they hammered Malawi by four goals to nil the other day with strikes from Idrissa Gueye, Sadio Mane, Boulaye Dia and Nicolas Jackson.

MALAWI TEAM NEWS: NO INJURIES

Malawi do have to make an enforced change for this next one with goalkeeper Brighton Munthali sent off against the Senegalese the other day so back-up ‘keeper George Chikooka will start this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Chikooka; Sanudi, Mwase, Chembezi, Silwimba; Mpinganrija, Njaliwa, Banda, Nkhoma; Kaonga, Mwaungulu

SENEGAL TEAM NEWS: THE NEW STAR

The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Sadio Mane remain the biggest names for Senegal but the continued emergence and improvement of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson does mean he has marked himself out as the key Senegalese attacker.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Dieng; Mendy, Koulibaly, Niakhate, Jakobs; Gueye, Camara; Sarr, Ndiaye, Mane; Jackson

UNAVAILABLE: Seck (Injured)

MALAWI VS SENEGAL PREDICTION

Malawi conceded three against both Burundi and Burkina Faso last month so they have already conceded on average over three goals per game after three of their 2025 AFCON qualifying. They now face a Senegalese side that found some vigour the other day and were also helped by Malawi going down to ten men. Even with that mitigating factor for Malawi, a comfortable Senegalese victory remains the likeliest outcome for this one.

MALAWI VS SENEGAL TIP: SENEGAL TO WIN -1 HANDICAP
