THE PREDICTION
The reigning champions and pre-tournament favourites Algeria began their AFCON campaign with a lacklustre and frustrating goalless draw against Sierra Leone. Despite Riyad Mahrez, Yacine Brahimi and even Said Benrahma off the bench having chances, the north Africans couldn’t find a way past the impressive Mohamed Kamara in goal. Equatorial Guinea were edged out by a goal to nil by the Ivory Coast in their opening match as an early Max Gradel goal was enough to see them off. Just 43% possession and two shots on target highlighted their general limitations. Algeria will expect to win this one.
