GHANA PREVIEW: BLACK STARS ON THE BOUNCE

After a disappointing group stage exit at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ghana followed that up by somehow managing to throw away two games, both finishing in 2-2 draws, against Egypt and Mozambique to be eliminated in the groups of the 2023 AFCON earlier this year.

The Black Stars do, though, come into this one on the back of an entertaining 4-3 win over the Central African Republic in June to mean they have started qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with three wins in their opening four matches.

ANGOLA PREVIEW: THE IMPRESSIVE PEDRO GONCALVES

At the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in the Ivory Coast earlier this year, Angola performed very well to reach the quarter-finals of the competition before then losing by a slender margin by a goal to nil to Nigeria in the last eight.

The Angolans, under the management of Pedro Goncalves, have managed to cultivate an entertaining and progressive style of football and they come into this one on the back of four successive victories.

GHANA TEAM NEWS: POTENTIAL FORSON DEBUT

New Atalanta midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana is set to miss these games due to injury with new Norwich City Amankwah Forson given a late call-up. The focus of this team is on attack with the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu, Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ati-Zigi; Lamptey, Seidu, Salisu, Mumin; Abdul Samed, Partey; Sulemana, Kudus, Fatawu; Ayew

UNAVAILABLE: Mensah (Injured), Sulemana (Injured)

ANGOLA TEAM NEWS: ON THE FRONT FOOT

Pedro Goncalves’ style of football is attacking, albeit occasionally low-scoring. The emphasis for this international break will be to find a replacement for former Portugal international Lucas Joao, with the Shanghai Port striker left out of this squad.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Neblu; Clinton Mata, Gaspar, Carmo, Fortuna; Fredy, Show, Nteka; Manuel Benson, Mabululu, Gelson

GHANA VS ANGOLA PREDICTION

This has the potential be a very intriguing encounter. Otto Addo’s side have had seven successive matches in which both teams have scored now with those seven games consisting of a combined total of 28 goals. They now face an Angolan side that don’t quite have the cutting edge in the final third but the additions to the squad of Manuel Benson and Randy Nteka should help. Both teams scoring does look a good bet for this one.
