THE TEAM NEWS

CABO VERDE

Prior to the tournament, Bubista had to deal with a couple of issues as Djaniny withdrew due to an injury, whilst Helio Varela and Joao Correia both rejected invitations to join up with the squad in order to focus on club commitments.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Vozinha; Moreira, Costa, Pico, Paulo; Duarte, Pina, Monteiro; Mendes, Bebe, Cabral

MOZAMBIQUE

Chiquinho Cunde did not have to cope with the issues that Bubista and Cabo Verde had with pre-tournament absentees. They made a double substitution at half-time on Sunday with Clesio, who came off the bench, likely to start after scoring in the second 45.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-1-1): Ernan; Macandza, Mexer, Dove, Reinildo; Witi, Guima, Amade, Clesio; Domingues; Ratifo

THE PREDICTION

Prior to the tournament, both Ivory Coast and Ghana would have started as the standout favourites to go through as the top two but there is a real opportunity for both of these sides to lay down a potentially unassailable marker. With Ghana up against hosts Ivory Coast, Cape Verde will qualify with a victory in this one and Mozambique could ensure at least third spot with a victory of their own. As a result, this has the potential to be quite entertaining – especially with six of Mozambique’s last eight games featuring both teams scoring and four of those matches featuring four or five goals.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
