Reigning AFC Champions League winners and FIFA Club World Cup semi-finalists Al Hilal don’t have the easiest start to the defence of their title as they meet Sharjah, who reached the round of 16 last year after topping their group, only to be knocked out on penalties by Al Wahda. Both sides are expected to qualify from Group A, although Al Hilal have to be favoured to win the group when taking into account the quality of their squad. They won’t have it their own way here, but should do enough to edge a narrow victory over Sharjah.
