THE LOWDOWN
SOUTH KOREA
- In their opening match of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, South Korea were beaten 2-0 by Colombia and were generally quite thoroughly outplayed, under the management of Colin Bell.
- The Tigresses of Asia are currently ranked 17th in the world, according to FIFA, so would have been expecting to squeeze themselves out of this group but they are now facing a must-win situation.
MOROCCO
- Morocco began their group stage campaign with an annihilation at the hands of Germany the other day at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium. The Moroccans were hammered 6-0 by one of the pre-tournament favourites.
- Reynald Pedros’ are participating in their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup so it always seemed a stretch to make much of a statement at the tournament, especially in such a tough group.

THE PREDICTION
Under the management of Colin Bell, the South Koreans will be extremely frustrated. They will hope that Germany can do them a favour by beating Colombia and then they themselves can take advantage of a German side that will have qualified for the knockouts by the time they meet. That is thinking ahead as they do have to get past Morocco first of all. South Korea are the firm favourites for this one, despite their defeat the other day.
