THE PREDICTION
Despite coming up against a France side that could easily be viewed as a strong team for the major Euro tournament this summer, the Dutch overcame them to win 2-1 limiting their opposition to few chances and only conceding due a rare marking error from a corner. The impressive Ligue 1 champion Sven Botman alongside Ajax’s Perr Schuurs help to balance an attacking side that boasts Calvin Stengs, Justin Kluivert and, the quarter-final last-minute match-winner, Myron Boadu. They come up against a German side that they drew 1-1 with in the group stages back in March. The Germans came through a stern Denmark test via a penalty shootout after trailing twice; once in extra-time and once in normal time. That is reflective of a side that doesn’t match German youth sides of the past but the consistency of the tournament’s joint top goalscorer Lukas Nmecha means they always have a chance. However, the Netherlands will be confident of being victorious over their arch-rivals.
