The semi-finals of this season’s Copa are fantastic: Rayo, Betis, Athletic and Valencia. Andoni Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano were promoted from the second-tier last season and have enjoyed an excellent campaign, thanks to some excellent home form. Their 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo at the weekend, though, has extended their current winless run to four matches and they have won just one of their last six in the league. They now come up against a Real Betis side that suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Villarreal at the weekend. Manuel Pellegrini’s Andalusians are remaining firmly in the battle for top four and UEFA Champions League qualification with an excellent style of play suiting their strong squad. These two shared a 1-1 draw in La Liga last month and another draw looks a likely outcome for the first-leg of this semi.
