In April of 2021, Real Sociedad won the rearranged 2020 Copa del Rey final against their Basque rivals Athletic Club. La Real have started each of the last three seasons exceptionally well but have drifted and they have done so again. A lack of goals, despite a plethora of attacking options, has hampered them. The same can be said for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. ‘Cholismo’ has struggled to adapt to the depth of talent now in the Atletico squad. Los Rojiblancos lack a cohesion going forward but they have been improved since the turn of the year. A low-scoring encounter would be expected for this one.
