THE PREDICTION
The 2021-22 Carabao Cup final sees Chelsea face Liverpool at Wembley Stadium with neither having won this competition since 2015 when the Blues overcame Tottenham in the final. Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel will not have found memories of Wembley after his side were beaten by Leicester in last season’s FA Cup final and will be looking to erase some demons here, whilst Jurgen Klopp seeks to secure his first domestic cup triumph as Liverpool boss. Worryingly for Chelsea, they come into this one nursing a number of injury problems following their Champions League clash with Lille in midweek, although Liverpool themselves may well be without both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino. However, this shouldn’t stunt the Reds from an attacking perspective after they put six goals past Leeds Utd last time out and the large Wembley pitch should suit the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane to a tee.
Although both teams boast strong defensive foundations and will each prove extremely tough to break down as you would expect, the extra offensive quality of Liverpool may just wind up being the difference between the two, so back Klopp’s men to just do enough here and lift the trophy whether it be after 90 minutes or extra-time.
