Defending champions Man City arrive at Wembley looking to secure their fourth successive Carabao Cup trophy by beating Tottenham, who having been derided for their lack of trophies in recent years are now just one win away from their first major honour since winning this competition back in 2008. Spurs head to Wembley under the command of interim manager Ryan Mason following the sacking of Jose Mourinho this past Monday and Mason’s first game in charge saw his side beat Brighton 2-1 on Wednesday night. He takes on serial trophy winner Pep Guardiola, although the Man City boss may be without influential midfielder Kevin De Bruyne for the final, as the Belgian playmaker faces a race against time to be fit. Whether De Bruyne plays or not, Man City will rightly head into the final as favourites. Their squad are very experienced in this type of big occasion and have never lost a cup final under the stewardship of Guardiola. Whilst Tottenham boast some exceptional individual players going forward such as Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, Man City contain the superior all-round squad and should ultimately play the occasion better than Tottenham, leading them to victory and an eighth Carabao Cup trophy.
