Hempel has shown signs in the past of breaking into the elite list of players but has yet to really fulfil that potential and this is a critical match from his perspective on the biggest stage in darts. The same could be said though for his opponent.

Injuries have hampered De Zwaan, but he is a former World Grand Prix quarter-finalist and can pound that treble 20 when on form, as is the case with Hempel. We could be in for a tight encounter here with the outcome capable of going either way. But it would be no surprise to see at least seven maximums.
