Flavio Cobolli vs Tomas Machac Prediction

Flavio Cobolli and Jasmine Paolini have been in outstanding form for Italy in the singles so far in the United Cup and the duo will be keen to continue that as they move into the knockout phase.

Cobolli has had two tricky matches against Dominic Stricker and then Ugo Humbert but he came through both of them impressively.

He now faces Machac who will provide another tough test for him. The pair have met twice before and Machac won both of those matches back in 2022 so the Czech 24-year-old will take some confidence from that.

Machac has won one and lost one in the singles so far but he has had two extremely tough opponents. He lost a close three-set thriller to Casper Ruud in his first match but bounced back well to win another three-setter against Hubert Hurkacz.

Those matches have likely sharpened Machac’s fitness and that should serve him well coming into this crunch match.

We like Machac coming into this one with a number of factors in his favour. It is a match that could go either way but expect Machac to be really fired up and desperate to avoid this tie being decided on the doubles.
