Fiorentina Preview: Stumbling I Viola

Former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino struggled at the start of his Fiorentina reign but I Viola have propelled themselves towards the top end of the table and into the Serie A title race, however they have collected just one point from their last three matches.

The home team come into this one on the back of an entertaining 2-2 draw with Juventus at the J Stadium in Turin last weekend in a game in which they were behind twice before scoring an 87th minute equaliser in that game via Riccardo Sottil.

Napoli Preview: Grinding it out

Antonio Conte has his Napoli side beginning 2025’s first round of fixtures sitting joint top of the table alongside Atalanta. They will have the chance to go three points clear of the Bergamasci this weekend with Atalanta playing in the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia.

The Neapolitans defeated Venezia by a goal to nil in their most recent outing in typical Conte style, grinding out a victory without playing too well. Giacomo Raspadori’s 79th minute winner in that game gave Napoli their third successive victory in Serie A.

Fiorentina Team News: Finding their form

Fiorentina’s dip in form has coincided with key man Edoardo Bove suffering a cardiac arrest and he remains unavailable, albeit on the mend. Club captain Cristiano Biraghi is sidelined for the hosts this weekend due to injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Dodo, Comuzzo, Ranieri, Parisi; Cataldi, Adli; Colpani, Gudmundsson, Sottil; Kean

Unavailable: Biraghi (Injured), Bove (Illness)

Questionable:

Napoli Team News: No Buongiorno

As mentioned, it has been typical Conte fashion for Napoli this season and that means very few changes to their main starting eleven but they are dealing with a key absentee as centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno is unavailable due to a back issue.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Juan, Mathias Olivera; Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Kvaratskhelia

Unavailable: Buongiorno (Injured)

Questionable:

Fiorentina vs Napoli Prediction

Fiorentina’s back-to-back losses against Bologna and Udinese, as well as draws with Vitoria Guimaraes and Juventus, mean they are winless in four matches across all competitions. That has held them back from genuinely sustaining a challenge for top spot. They face a Napoli side that are coached by a man you would want to avoid if you are feeling a bit vulnerable and fragile. The Neapolitans seeing off a side searching for some fluency appears a good bet for this one.

Fiorentina vs Napoli Tip: Napoli to win & under 3.5 goals
