Fiorentina Preview: Some big wins
Former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino took charge of Fiorentina last summer to replace Bologna-bound Vincenzo Italiano and I Viola had been fighting on all three fronts at the turn of the year but they have now since collapsed domestically.
That Serie A collapse has seen them manage just five victories in their last 15 matches in Serie A. However, they have managed to defeat defending champions and league leaders Internazionale by three goals to nil as well as defeating Juventus by the same scoreline.
Atalanta Preview: Bergamasci need consistency
Much like Fiorentina, Atalanta hit a major mid-season blip which saw them collapse out of the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League but the Bergamasci have remained in the Italian title race, sitting six points behind defending champions Inter.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have struggled to consistently come through their poor form with their 2-0 loss to Inter a couple of weeks ago now meaning they have managed just five matches in their last 18 matches across all competitions.
Fiorentina Team News: No Colpani
Fiorentina will remain without Andrea Colpani for this weekend due to a foot injury, whilst Roma loanee Edoardo Bove remains sidelined for I Viola after suffering a cardiac arrest against Inter in early December.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): David de Gea; Pongracic, Pablo Mari, Ranieri; Dodo, Mandragora, Cataldi, Fagioli, Gosens; Gudmundsson, Kean
Unavailable: Colpani (Injured), Bove (Illness)
Questionable:
Atalanta Team News: Ederson suspension
Key midfielder Ederson is missing through suspension for this weekend and he is now unavailable for this weekend. They also have some key doubts, too, such as Berat Djimsiti, Juan Cuadrado and Serie A’s top scorer Mateo Retegui.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Toloi, Hien, Kolasinac; Bellanova, De Roon, Pasalic, Zappacosta; De Ketelaere, Samardzic; Lookman
Unavailable: Kossounou (Injured), Scalvini (Injured), Ederson (Suspended), Scamacca (Injured)
Questionable: Djimsiti (Injured), Posch (Injured), Juan Cuadrado (Injured), Retegui (Injured)
Fiorentina vs Atalanta Prediction
Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino is known as being a disciple of Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactical identity and that should mean we have an intriguing clash at the Artemio Franchi. Fiorentina have a deep squad with an impressive and attacking style, whilst Atalanta’s depth has grown over the years as they themselves have grown. These are two sides with an intention to attack at all times and a thriller for the neutral looks the way to go for this one.
Fiorentina vs Atalanta Tip: Over 2.5 goals
