Fiona Ferro vs Jessika Ponchet prediction

Fiona Ferro picked up a fabulous win in the first-round by taking down fourth seed McCarthy Kessler in three sets. Ferro recovered from losing an epic 10-8 tiebreak in the first set to win 6-7 6-2 7-5 and make it through to the next round. 

She has had a frustrating last couple of years off the court but did reach as high 39 in the world. With performances such as these, there’s no reason why Ferro can’t make another assault on the world rankings despite he lowly position right now.

Jessika Ponchet created a number of opportunities during her 6-2 6-4 win over Marguax Rouvroy. Despite the comfortable score line, Ponchet only took six of a possible 19 break points, while a few lapses in concentration saw her opponent break her serve on three occasions.

The head-to-head is 1-1, with Ferro winning their only encounter on clay though that took place seven years ago. We expect Ponchet to make it through in three sets.
